Educational Programs
At SandyPines, we understand how important education is for your child. Riverbend Academy gives our young residents the opportunity to continue their education while still receiving age-appropriate behavioral health treatment.
Riverbend Academy
Riverbend Academy, located on SandyPines’ campus, is an accredited school under the jurisdiction of the Martin County School District. Our school building includes classrooms, a library, computer lab and smart boards in several school classrooms. Riverbend Academy also utilizes research-based interventions to meet each student’s academic needs.
Each teacher at Riverbend Academy is certified under the Florida Department of Education. Teachers have expertise in their study area as well as exceptional student education. Paraprofessionals are trained in data collection and behavioral strategies. Residents attend school, just as they would if they were residing at home, following the Martin County School District’s calendar, including Extended School Year for those qualifying based on an Individualized Education Program (IEP) team recommendation.
In addition to the standards-based curriculum, Riverbend Academy offers an art program throughout the school year. Students learn about master artists and work with local artists to recreate certain works and create individual works. The school has a community partnership with a local business who has held career education opportunities for students. Students also participate in direct instruction of social skills strategies.
