What To Bring / Not To Bring

To ensure resident safety, please carefully review the following lists for what to bring with you during admissions and rules on prohibited items.

Programs & Services at Sandy Pines Residential Treatment Center

SandyPines’ Item List

  • A maximum of seven shirts which fit appropriately
  • A maximum of seven pairs of pants/shorts, which fit appropriately
  • Underwear
  • Socks
  • Two pairs of shoes (no laces), one of which needs to be athletic shoes.
  • Shower shoes
  • Pajamas/shorts/T-shirts for sleeping
  • Swimming suit (No bikinis allowed)
  • Pillows, linens and blankets are provided by SandyPines, but residents may bring in personal comforter or blanket from home.
  • Makeup (may be used if resident is on an appropriate level)
  • Wireless notebook/journal (SandyPines will supply writing utensil)
  • Cordless electric rechargeable razor

Bringing additional items such as toys, games, etc. should be discussed with the therapist. This is not meant to be an exhaustive list and the safety of the children and staff is our priority.

The following items are not permitted at SandyPines:

  • Clothing items with drawstrings
  • Items containing glass or mirrors
  • Bar soap
  • Belts
  • Button batteries
  • Firearms, ammunition or any other item that may function as a weapon
  • Food brought from outside the facility
  • iPods, CD players, CD’s, MP3 players and other handheld games and devices
  • Items (for example, music, pictures, books, posters, etc.) depicting or symbolizing explicit sexual, violent, gang, alcohol or drug themes
  • Laundry detergent
  • Matches, lighters or volatile substances including fluid from aerosol sprays
  • Drugs, alcohol or tobacco products of any kind
  • Nail polish/nail polish remover
  • Notebooks with metal or wire binders
  • Pens/markers
  • Portable TVs, camcorders, cameras, phones or any other recording devices
  • Sharp items, including knives, needles, scissors, razors, etc.
  • Shoelaces
  • Personal hygiene items such as shampoo, body wash, conditioner, perfume, cologne, lotions, deodorant, alcohol-based hand sanitizers
  • Paracords (a/k/a parachute cord nylon rope), used in items such as bracelets, watches, belts and lanyards
  • Magnetic toys
  • ZipIt products and accessories
  • Orbeez (all products and styles)
  • Fidget spinners
  • Flip flops
  • Shoes with hemp or rope on the sole
  • Light up tennis shoes
  • Metal containers (ex. dominoes and colored pencils are sometimes stored in them.)
  • Hemp or rope shoes
  • Nylon mesh shower/bath scrubs
  • Pop-out flyers
  • Scrub pants
  • Bottles with Pump Dispensers
  • Scrunchie Hair Ties with Pockets
  • Stuffed Animals

The following items may be brought onto the campus and will be stored by staff. Residents will be permitted to use them during scheduled times and according to program guidelines:

  • Curling iron
  • Cordless electric rechargeable razor
  • Emery boards
  • Hair dryer
  • Makeup (glass/mirrors must be removed)
  • Perfume/cologne/deodorant/Nair in plastic bottles that do not contain alcohol, propylene glycol or dipropylene glycol in the first three ingredients
